With Labor Day in the rearview mirror, fall is officially on the horizon. From the earliest release date ever of the Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte to Pumpkin Spiced Seltzer, pumpkin everything is officially on drink menus. The same goes for desserts, and gelato maker Talenti has just joined the pumpkin pack.
This limited-edition treat is part of Talenti’s “Layers” line, which the company calls “gelato on a whole new layer.” The frozen creation includes pumpkin gelato with layers of brown sugar sauce and real pie crust pieces. If you stare into the container, it looks almost like a perfectly deconstructed pumpkin pie ice cream cake. Layers stack the silky-smooth gelato you know and love with indulgent ingredients, making each bite a new pumpkin delight.
Or, if pumpkin just isn’t your thing and there’s no way, no how you’re going to get on that wagon, there are other new limited edition flavors include chocolate cherry cheesecake, coffee cookie crumble, lemon berry pie, and peanut butter vanilla fudge. Really, there’s something for everyone, including Banana Caramel Crunch, inspired by Southern-style banana pudding. This flavor has two creamy layers of banana pudding gelato sandwiched between rich dulce de leche and baked pie crust pieces.
If ice cream is more your style, you can also grab Ben & Jerry’s Pumpkin Cheesecake flavor in your grocer’s freezer right now. Like a real slice of cheesecake, it’s completed by a graham cracker swirl. Eric Fredette, the developer behind the flavor, describes it as “like a warm blanket on a cool autumn day.”
