Taking It Full Circle with Elton, Bernie and Others

They say life is typically a journey that takes all of us full circle, and here’s proof. Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote and released “Rocket Man” in the mid-70s. The song was a top 10, later used in many movies and theater moments.

The song gained increased notoriety when 70s daredevil Evil Knievel used the song (without permission) in his crazy ‘jump the canyon’ stunt years later. As you remember the jump was unsuccessful but did draw a large television audience. Well now Slash of the rock group ‘Guns & Roses,’ has been given permission to re-record the song.

The plot thickens as modern day daredevil Eddie Braun’s ‘Kickstarter campaign’ will use that version to celebrate the same stupid jump in a homemade rocket across Idaho’s Snake River Canyon. Folks, it’s 1974 all over again. Elton is abroad at the moment in tour.
