Will Smith and the rest of the Suicide Squad crew are quite happy about the box office numbers from their debut this weekend. The movie broke the record for largest August debut ever, racking up $135.1 million at the box office! The previous record was held by Guardians of the Galaxy, which brought in just over $94 million in its August debut.
Amazingly, this was Will Smith’s first $100+ debut, as he had never done it before even with all of his movies from the past. Unfortunately for the crew, movie critics were pretty harsh and Rotten Tomatoes only gave it a 26% approval rating.
Jason Bourne came in at number two this past weekend, pushing it over $100 million after just 10 days. Bad Moms brought in $14.2 million this past weekend with The Secret Life of Pets being right behind them with $11.6 million at the box office.
