Steve Perry was the lead singer of the 80s super group Journey for many years, but left the band in 1993 due to emotional distress and medical reasons. Recently Steve announced plans to get back into the studio and make another solo album, his latest’s since 1994, when he released “For the Love of Strange Medicine,” and his fans can’t wait to hear his newest songs.
Steve was born into a musical family as his father was a vocalist and owner of a small radio station in southern California while he was growing up. Steve knocked around the Sacramento area in his late teens with various local groups until he bumped into the band, becoming the front man for Journey for nine albums and countless tours.
Steve became a learned writer – did you know the song “Lights” was originally a tribute to LA, but changed to reflect his admiration to San Francisco? Also, Steve wrote “Young Hearts Forever” as a ode to the late Thin Lizzy lead vocalist Phil Lynott.
Steve Perry has his own Hollywood Walk of Fame, is now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by way of Journey, and his new album is still in the early stages, but is expected to be released this year.
