Springtime Home Improvement To-Do’s

You’re sheltering-in-place.  You’re looking around, noticing all the nooks and crannies that you’ve been ignoring for days, weeks, months…years.  Well, here is a short list of Spring Home Improvement To-Do’s you can tackle to get you ready for Spring and Summer!

Boost curb appeal with plants/trees/flowers

Inspect your flowerbed plants and trees in your yard for damage and disease. Replace them and fill in bare spots with a few new plants, flowers and trees. This will boost your curb appeal and you’ll love seeing the gorgeous greenery and flowers every time you drive up to your home, and a lot of nurseries are having great Spring sales right now.

Inspect and maintain lattice, fences, deck and outdoor stairs.

Next up on the Home Checklist is: Lattice, fences, decks and outdoor stairs can be damaged from winter temperatures, snow and ice. Inspect them and schedule any damages to be fixed, unless you’re super handy and know how to do it yourself.

Clean gutters/downspouts

Spring showers are still here! Make sure your gutters and downspouts are working properly by cleaning them and removing debris and leaves.

Be on the lookout for termites

Termites are beginning to move and swarm starting this month so keep your eye out for them. If you see them you can attempt to DIY treat them with this termite detection and killing stakes or schedule a visit with a licensed pest control company to remove them as soon as possible to prevent damage to the structure of your home.

Spruce up your patio/deck

Warmer months are coming, and you’re going to want to get out of the house and enjoy it, even if that means sticking to your back patio, deck, balcony, or rooftop.  Take a look-see at what winter weather wrought and spruce it up a bit.  Sweep or hose off the flooring.  Get the patio cushions out of storage and give them a good cleaning.  Put out some plants and order some twinkle lights.  And it’s something you can do as a family. Make it festive and fun!
