Smashing Pumpkins Announce New Album

According to ultimateclassicrock.com, the Smashing Pumpkins announced a new album, ATUM, a “rock opera in three acts.” The 33 song collection will be a sequel to both 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/Machines of God. ATUM (pronounced like “autumn”) is set for release is segments with each act consisting of 11 songs and coming out every 11 weeks on digital streaming platforms. The ATUM vinyl box set is going to include 10 unreleased songs from the band.

On top of that, Billy Corgan recently announced a new podcast, Thirty-Three With William Patrick Corgan and every week, a new song from ATUM will debut on the podcast. The first two episodes of the podcast are now available including two never before heard songs, “Beguiled” and “butterfly Suite.” Beguiled was originally debuted by the band on their TikTok account. The Smashing Pumpkins will be performing their song on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on September 23rd. They are also set to launch a North American tour at the start of October along with Jane’s Addiction.

Corgan addressed the then untitled album back in 2020 stating that, “We feel like in many ways this completes the circle on everything we started and weren’t able to finish at that time, so we’re very excited about [it].”
