The German rock band, Scorpions’, classic video for “Wind of Change” on YouTube has now garnered over one billion views on the platform. The song itself is a power ballad that was inspired by a 1989 performance at the Moscow Music Peace Festival.
The Scorpions band page tweeted, “1 Billion views on the ‘Wind of Change’ video!!! What a milestone. Thank you to all the Rock Believers for watching,”
The video itself has images of protests in China’s Tiananmen Square, the fall of the Berlin wall, tanks, and other disasters. While the song was written by Klau Meine and his bandmates, it originally reached Number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the best selling single from a German artist.
The original video was uploaded to YouTube in November of 2009. Meanwhile, the band’s last album was released in February of last year.
