Sabrina Carpenter Jokingly Takes Credit for N.Y. Mayor’s Indictment During Madison Square Garden Show

During her Madison Square Garden concert on Sunday night (Sept. 29), Sabrina Carpenter playfully addressed the recent indictment of New York Mayor Eric Adams. The pop star jokingly hinted at her involvement in the historic legal case, which saw Adams pleading not guilty to five felony charges, including conspiracy, wire fraud, and bribery.

As seen in fan-captured footage, Carpenter quipped, “Damn, what now? Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted?” before laughing as the crowd erupted in cheers. The singer was referring to earlier reports that connected her 2023 “Feather” music video to one of the mayor’s close associates.

The controversy dates back to last Halloween when Carpenter filmed the “Feather” video inside Brooklyn’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish Church. The provocative video, which featured the singer in a blood-soaked black dress posing near a coffin on the church altar, resulted in the demotion of Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, who had approved the shoot.

More recently, federal investigators have been looking into connections between Gigantiello, former Adams chief of staff Frank Carone, and the church itself. The diocese has pledged full cooperation with the investigation, which reportedly ties into Carpenter’s video shoot.

Mayor Adams, meanwhile, is facing charges related to allegedly accepting bribes and illegal campaign contributions in exchange for political favors.
