Most of the original members of the Eagles toured as backup band for Linda Rondstadt while she was hot on the charts in the very early 70s.

Although the band CCR was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993, John Fogerty the founder and brother of Tom refused to play onstage with Cook and Clifford.

Three songs credited to religious inspiration:

“Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum who watched a television evangelist show that night.

“Crystal Blue Persuasion” by Tommy James and the Shondells because while on the road they dropped acid and saw Jesus.

Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” was written by Will Jennings who credits a story as a young boy; his mother talked about a ‘higher love.’
