Rocking and Rolling with Fun Facts

We’re just a few days away from Thanksgiving and most of the news around rock and roll is old news. Not a whole lot happens right before turkey day. Let’s share some interesting rock and roll fun facts.

There are 4,000 versions or ‘covers’ of the Beatles hit “Yesterday.” It’s been estimated that the song has been played eight million times since its debut on the radio. “You’ve Lost That Lovin Feeling” is the record holder of being played an estimate 9 million times since it’s been written.

This may not surprise you, but Zeppelin member John Bonham consumed at least 40 shots of vodka on the last night of his life.

Everyone knows that Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens perished in a plane crash. What you may not know is that Buddy’s pregnant wife heard about his death on the radio (police immediately changed in the area of holding off public until the next of kin is notified). She had a miscarriage the following day, is still alive and has never visited Buddy’s gravesite in Iowa.

John Lennon was featured as the cover story on the first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. The Beatles hold the record for most covers with more than 30.
