Rockers Who Have Been Given Britain’s Highest Non-Military Honor

Van Morrison was recently knighted by Brittan’s Price Charles for his amazing career and recognition his country wants to bestow for his 53 years of music. Who are others that have received Brittan’s highest non-military honor?

Elton John, 60s and 70s crooner Cliff Richard, “Gold Finger’s” Shirley Bassey, the late David Bowie, Rolling Stones founder Mick Jagger, Sting, Bono, Beatles’ member Paul McCartney, and a man whose career spans nearly 50 years, singer Tom Jones have all been given this honor.

Can you turn the honor down? Yup, as John Lennon was recognized as ‘Sir,’ but wrote a letter to the Queen of England writing that he was opposed to Brittan’s support of Vietnam and other military actions over the years, and would be declining the honor. Can you say awkward?
