Rockers and Their Books

People often tell famous people “hey you should write a book.” Musicians have often taken the autobiography as a cathartic exercise. Here are a few of our favs…

Nikki Sixx and his “Heroine Diaries” from 2007 is a revealing and depressing account of fame, fortune, and addiction.

‘My Cross to Bear’ by Greg Allman is the detailed story of addiction, the dangers of being a rock star, being Mr. Cher, and how a southern rocker dealt with the death if his brother Duane and close friend Berry Oakley.

We don’t often think of great autobiographies being written by women, but Ronnie Spector (yes the name from convicted murder Phil) comes to mind. Why did she marry this dude? What was it like for a talented female singer of color in the 60s? These are other questions are answered in this book, one well worth reading.
