Rock and roll and film/TV go hand in hand. Over the year we’ve seen documentaries about Janis Joplin, the Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen. Now, a ton of your favorite stars will be featured in a new six-part Smithsonian Channel series called ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Inventions’ that will premiere January 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
If you tune in for the series you’ll eventually see and hear The Kinks’ founding member Dave Davies, ex-Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman, Crosby Stills Nash and Young’s Graham Nash, and guitarist Andy Summers from the Police.
Tonight’s inaugural episode is called “This Damn Music,” featuring the backstory of the equipment used to play and store recorded music. The segment also includes a historical look at the user end equipment, the 78-rpm discs, vinyl, various radios, cassettes, CD and more.
Be sure to catch called ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Inventions’ tonight, 8 p.m. ET/PT or visit the SmithsonianChannel.com for all the details.
