Yesterday, February 11th may have been just another cold Sunday for you and your family, but six years ago yesterday, it became a day the music world would remember for all of eternity. Tragically the before the 2012 Grammy’s, February 11th, 2012, Whitney Houston was found unresponsive in her hotel bathtub, death was at hand. Sadly, it would only be a few years later that her daughter Bobbi would join her in death. How much do we really know about this superstar?
Much like Aretha Franklin, Whitney sang in the church choir, the church was the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. She was the niece of 70s disco star Thelma Houston (Dionne Warwick was her God Mother) so she had an entry into the music business, singing background vocals for Chaka Kahn’s “I’m Every Woman” at the age of 15.
Whitney would eventually sell nearly 175 million records, and appear in the movies ‘The Bodyguard,’ ‘The Preacher’s Wife,’ and ‘Waiting to Exhale.’
