They began as the Polka Tulk Blues Band in the late 60s, but realized that they needed to change their name to have any chance of becoming rock stars. While tossing round various names to use, they walked past a movie theater that was showing the 1963 Boris Karloff movie ‘Black Sabbath’ which had inspired tons of kids to line up for tickets.
They figured if people would gather en mass to see a scary movie, they would certainly line up to hear a scary band. They wrote a scary song called “Black Sabbath” and liked it so much they chose that for the name of the band. They are on tour this fall, check em out! The remainder of the 2016 Black Sabbath Tour..
