With the return of guitarist John Frusciante, who hasn’t been with the band in 10 years, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have finally let loose some details about their upcoming album.
“It sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it’s different and new,” drummer Chad Smith explains of the inevitable new sound the well-lived rockers will embody, as so much time has passed since the group has held this particular line-up of members. “We’re proud of [the album] and it has to start there.”
Smith says that the band accepts if fans don’t quite embrace the new album because it feels good for the Chili Peppers, regardless. “We’re really listening to each other in a new way,” he explains.
The album is expected to be released alongside the band’s upcoming tour dates.
