Ray Stevens Opens CabaRay Showroom in Nashville

Ray Stevens has opened a dinner theater in Nashville called the ‘Ray Stevens CabaRay Showroom’ and it’s already rocking with business. The venue is a restaurant, performance center, and television production facility. Ray’s always been a smooth operator, knowing the right time to write and record a parody that brought fans to the stores and shows. He’s earned two Grammys; the first in 19870, the second in 1976. Here are our favorite Ray Stevens songs…

“Everything is Beautiful” is our favorite, given that it’s neither a novelty or parody song. The song hit number one in 1970 on the Canadian, US, Australia, Dutch and Irish charts.

“Gitarzan” (1968) and “Ahab the Arab” (1961) seem almost politically incorrect today, but were hits for Ray in the 60s, earning him enough money to pay the bills.

“The Streak” was a smash for Ray in 1974, reflecting on the streaking sensation that was plaguing the college campuses of America. The song had a companion video, hitting number one for Ray in 1974.
