One unnamed survivor after the sentence was given stated that, “You made me do things that broke my spirit. I literally wished I would die because of how low you made me feel,” Directed towards Kelly. “We are no longer the preyed-on individuals we once were.” Another stated.  In a statement made by Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Breon Peace, “I hope this sentencing serves as its own testimony that it doesn’t matter how powerful, rich or famous your abuser may be or how small they make you feel — justice only hears the truth,” The Brooklyn federal court jury convicted Robert Sylvester Kelly, after hearing stories of the artist using his aides and managers in order to meet girls and keep them obedient to him. His current lawyers argued that Kelly should get no more then 10 years since he had an abusive childhood, however, Kelly still ended up getting sentenced to thirty years in prison.
