More and more states are joining a movement to tax streaming services and one of the newest to do so is Pennsylvania. On Aug. 1, the new six percent sales tax on streaming services became introduced as a part of a much bigger revenue package. Per CBS Pittsburgh, this tax was put together to help the state overcome a $1.3 billion budget shortfall.
Other locations to have taxes on streaming services to some extent include Connecticut, North Dakota, Chicago and Washington.
Under these new taxes in Pennsylvania, magazines, the Bible and newspapers are all clear of any taxing.
