William Schallert, the loving and sensible actor that portrayed Patty Duke’s father in the mid-60s ‘sit com’ ‘The Patty Duke Show’ has died at the age of 93 in Pacific Palisades, Calif. William’s career spanned five decades, from Broadway to TV, voice over artist to the silver screen. He played the gambit of roles. He was however best suited to be Patty Duke’s father in the long running “Patty Duke Show,” and on TV in roles with “The Wild Wild Wes,” “Melrose Place,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Leave it to Beaver.”
Imagine the wide roles William Schallert brought to life… He defined subtle humor from his part in the goofy “Dobie Gillis Show” in the late 50s, to Nilz Baris, undersecretary for the United Federation of Planets, in the wildly popular sci-fi Star Trek “The Trouble With Tribbles,” episode.
Sadly Patty Duke died in late March of this year, now William Schallert, everyone’s dad of sorts has also died at the age of 93.
