Patrick Mahomes Sets New Chiefs Record as All-Time Leading Passer

Patrick Mahomes has further solidified his legacy as the greatest quarterback in Kansas City Chiefs history by becoming the franchise’s all-time leading passer.

During Thursday night’s thrilling 27-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Mahomes eclipsed Len Dawson’s career passing yards record with a 23-yard pass to his go-to target, Travis Kelce. The play, which came in the second quarter under pressure on a third-and-12, allowed Mahomes to surpass Dawson’s mark of 28,507 yards. Mahomes achieved this milestone in just 97 games—an impressive 86 games fewer than it took Dawson, the Hall of Famer who led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl victory in 1970.

Dawson played 14 seasons with the Chiefs, setting his record over 183 games before retiring in 1975. Mahomes, now in his seventh NFL season, continues to elevate the bar, seemingly destined to shatter more records during his already illustrious career.

The record-setting throw to Kelce, a player often involved in Mahomes’ career-defining moments, came as no surprise and helped set up a field goal that extended Kansas City’s lead. Mahomes’ achievement is just another milestone in what promises to be a Hall of Fame career filled with record-breaking moments.
