Our Grammy ‘Best Pop Vocal’ Review

The 60th Annual Grammy celebration is this Sunday, January 28th, on CBS beginning at 7:30 pm Est. One of the more interesting categories is the ‘Best Pop Vocal’ category. Let’s take a closer look at this honor…

‘Kaleidoscope EP’ from Coldplay was released in July of 2017, selling millions and hitting the top five in many world charts. Their biggest single from the LP is the Chainsmokers collaboration “Something Just Like This.”

Also released in July of 2017, the album ‘Lust For Life’ by Lana Del Rey generated two number one songs and is ranked within the top 50 LPs of the year by multiple sources.

‘Evolve’ from the Imagine Dragons is the third album from the band, ranked within the top five of US album charts, going Platinum in the US, becoming one of the top-selling albums of the year.

Released in August of 2017, ‘Rainbow’ by Kesha, debuted number one on the US Billboard charts, is certified Platinum, and bore two nominations; this ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ and ‘Best Solo Pop Performance’ with the song “Praying.”

‘Joanne’ from Lady Gaga debuted number one on the charts when it was released in late 2016, going Gold and Platinum within weeks.

‘Divide’ by Ed Sheeran is the third solo album from Ed, selling nearly 700,000 units the first week. It also debuted number one on the charts and has stayed there a record number of weeks. “Shape of You” is the single that drove the LPs success; this may be the odds-on favorite for this Grammy.
