Our Favorite Songs Used in Politics

How many times do you watch a political event and hear one of your favorite songs? “Don’t Stop” was used exclusively (with permission) by Bill Clinton in the mid-90s, while lots of rockers are cool with politicians leveraging their songs during a campaign.

There are many examples however of politicians using a song that the artist is not comfortable with, causing the rocker to ask or tell the politician to discontinue its use. We know that the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen have demanded that GOP presumptive Presidential nominee Donald Trump stop using their songs. Now, Brian May of the band Queen is threatening legal action over the ‘Dons’ use of “We are the Champions.” Brian says the Trump campaign as never asked for, nor received permission to use the song at rallies or press conferences, telling the dude to stop.

Queen is not alone in taking action and publicly denouncing Donald’s bad behavior. Neil Young, R.E.M, Aerosmith, Elton John, and the Rolling Stones have also sought injunctive relief from preventing their property to be used by the Trump campaign.
