Our Favorite Artists Telling Their Stories

It’s hard to believe that the Beatles, Beach Boys, Motown, and most of our favorite tunes are nearly 50 years old. Fortunately the artists themselves have chronicled their journey in words. Here are a few books worth checking into…

“I Am Brian Wilson” by Brian Wilson rolls back the curtain on the early Beach Boy success, the troubled relationship al the boys had with their difficult father Murray and how Brian dealt with depression and addiction.

“Allen Klein: The Man Who Bailed out the Beatles, Made the Stones, and Transformed Rock & Roll” is written by Fred Goodman, a rare inside look from someone not in the band.

“Not Dead Yet” from Phil Collins describes the early days of Phil and Genesis and the long battle with addiction and chronic health issues that forced him to retire a few years ago. Phil has healed both physically and spiritually, planning to come back to the studio and on the road in 2017. “Not Dead Yet” is a winner just like Phil.
