Today we’ll continue looking at singes and groups from the 80s and 90s that hit the music charts with a number one hit, then disappeared. Here’s part one of that one hit wonder list…
“I Will Always Love You Forever” was a great song and video from Donna Lewis, a one hit wonder artist in the 90s. Donna learned to play the piano at six, as her mom and dad were both musicians in Wales. You know your musical career is in peril when you can’t find a gig after your number one hit fades off the charts, playing yourself on an episode of ‘Beverly Hills 90201.’
Sinead O’Conner threw herself into the music world with “Nothing Compares 2 U” a haunting remake of the Prince song. Sinead also tore up a picture of the Pope as a musical guest live on “SNL,” which gave her a place in the Hall of Shame.
“I’m Too Sexy “by Right Said Fred was a disco hit that peaked at number one on the charts in the early 90s, making us wonder – what else was there to say? The song is catchy, giving Fred the entrée to be on stages to this day.
