The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class was announced last month, with Pearl Jam, ELO, Journey, Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, and Yes all being admitted. Nile Rogers of Chic received a special award for musical excellence.
Jr. Walker and the All Stars are not in the Hall though. Here are a few top reasons why Jr, and his band should be in the Hall after all…
Nobody played the saxophone like Jr. Walker, an instrument that was not in rock music at that time. Jr.’s style and interpretation was light years ahead of his time. How good was Jr. Walker? The band Foreigner featured him on the 1981 smash hit “Urgent,” which opened up a whole new audience. His song “Shotgun” is in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Jr. Walker and the All Stars had over 11 number one songs on the US charts.
