Ooms served as co-director of the video alongside director David Javier, and co-wrote “California Country” with Jamie O’Neal. The idea for the storyline’s road trip came after she spent some time camping down the coast of California.
In a recent intrerview, Ooms expressed her inspiration for the song. “I write about what I know and what I dream about.. As I grow in my music, I hope to connect with people from all over the world and relate to them finding common ground no matter where any of us call home.”
Images of palm trees, surfers and the picturesque California coast are seen throughout the video, which features Ooms sultry vocals and descriptive storyline.
“When discussing possible storylines for this music video with my director, the idea of road-tripping with my band took on a life of its own. I knew how visually appealing we could make it,” she says. “Living by the beach is something I never take for granted and appreciate the unique opportunity I have. There’s inspiration for writing everywhere I look.”
