The movie ‘The Shape of Water’ opens in theaters today, starring Sally Hawkins and Octavia Spencer. The storyline is delicious; Sally and Octavia’s characters work for the government during the cold war era, accidentally discovering a top-secret experiment. Both women are terrific in the film, and it’s another Hollywood film for Octavia to shine.
Octavia was born in Montgomery Alabama, one of seven children. Upon graduation from Auburn University, her first big film role was that of a nurse in the Samuel L. Jackson/Matthew McConaughey/Sandra Bullock film ‘A Time to Kill’ in 1996. She starred in ‘Hidden Figures,’ won an Oscar in ‘The Help,’ and appeared in ‘Bad Santa 2,’ and ‘Fruitvale Station.’ Her most interesting television occurred as the host of ‘SNL’ earlier in 2017. She’s appeared in nearly 50 television shows and over 60 films.
Her latest films are in post-production, opening in 2018; “Luce’ and ‘A Kid Like Jake.’
