If you’re a fan of the 60s and in particular the Beach Boys, there’s a stocking stuffer with your name on it. The Beach Boys 1965 “Beach Boys Party” is being re-released without the canned SFX and cover of the Beatles, Johnny Rivers, Bob Dylan and more.
The Beach Boys began in Hawthorne, CA in the early 60s with the three Wilson brothers, Carl, Dennis and Brian, cousin Mike Love, and Al Jardine. They were managed by their overbearing father Murray Wilson. The Beach Boys have sold over one million records and are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Here are three things you may not have known about the Beach Boys. Wilson family neighbor, David Marks, was an original member of the Beach Boys in the early 60s, but left to start his own band because Murray Wilson never allowed the band to record any of the songs he wrote. Glen Campbell went on tour with the Beach Boys for Brian Wilson, and is heard on the “Pet Sounds’ album. The Beach Boys original band name was The Pendletons.
“Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered and unplugged” hit the streets in mid-December.
