According to ultimateclassicrock.com, Neil Young has officially announced a new album along with Crazy Horse, World Record. The album is releasing on November 18th, and will be Young’s 42nd album and 15th with his backing band Crazy Horse. The album was produced by Young and Rick Rubin. A press release stated World Record is about Young as he “reminisces with gratitude about the gifts the Earth has given him and sets his sights on an uncertain future with hope that we can right this big, blue and green ship.” In July of this year, Young had announced that World Record was completed stating, “Now, with this recording, something special is happening and we know we have a good one, Listeners want vinyl for its quality and it’s worth waiting for.”
World Record, was recorded live and then was mixed to analog tape at Rubin’s California studio, Shangria-La. To “optimize audio quality,” the vinyl version of World Record is going to be released as a three-sided double album, along with an etching on the fourth side. There will also be a limited-edition clear vinyl version of the record, that will be available only at select retailers. The album will also be released on cassette and double CD, and digital platforms. Back in July, Young said that despite working with the same band, World Record is “unlike” his last album, Barn.
