This weekend’s box office results were pretty low except for a great performance from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The rest of the movies out underperformed for the most part. We guess most people wanted to stay in and celebrate their moms this weekend and not check out a good flick!
As we mentioned, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had itself a nice weekend generating $63 million at the box office. It sits at number one for another week. Two new movies follow to round out the top three. Snatched generated almost $18 million while King Arthur: Legend of the Sword saw itself make just under $15 million. Both of these numbers were lower than they wanted after their first weekend although Snatched’s total cost to make was just over $40 million, so they’re almost halfway there.
The Fate of the Furious did just over $5 million, putting itself at about $215 million made in the U.S. Beauty and the Beast’s near $4 million still leaves it about $7 million short of half a billion!
