1975 was an odd year for music. Folk music was relatively hot, FM rock was coming of age, and the Bain of our existence ‘disco’ was about to explode and throw everyone off the train. Before we jump, here were the best songs from 1975…
“Love Will Keep Us Together” by the Captain and Tennille was a jumpy and hot song, written by Neil Sedaka, hitting the charts at number one. The famous wrecking crew backed the tune, Tony did the vocals with the Captain (Daryl Dragon a touring Beach Boy) on keyboards. PS, all three of Toni’s sisters, Jane, Louisa, and Melissa, added background vocals to the song.
“Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glen Campbell was the most confusing song of the year, and the best example of just how messed up popular music was in 1975. On the ‘Top 40’ charts for many weeks, this country song from a successful singer and TV host (The Glen Campbell Hour) broke all the rules being nominated in Country and Grammy categories including Song of the Year, which it did not win.
