Mick Jagger Responds to Paul McCartney’s Dig at The Stones

“…they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are,” Paul McCartney remarked in an interview last week about the other English rock band that took on the scene around the same time as The Beatles.

During a recent show following McCartney’s comment, Mick Jagger took to the stage to respond, tongue-in-cheek, to the fellow music legend’s critique.

“There are so many celebrities here tonight,” Jagger told the crowd, listing a handful of famous names who were apparently at the Los Angeles show that night. “And Paul McCartney is here; he’s going to help; he’s going to join us in a blues cover later on.”

The Beatle was never meant to show up, of course, but Jagger wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to poke fun at the decades-long rivalry the Rolling Stones and The Beatles have carried into 2021.
