The first night of the Sweet Sixteen is complete and boy we did not see that coming! The underdogs ruled the night with three of them winning. The lone favorite to win was Michigan who easily handled Texas A&M by a score of 99 to 72.
Florida State, Michigan’s opponent on Saturday night, won against Gonzaga fairly easily. They were up 9 at half before eventually winning by 15. This is the first time they’ve been to the Elite Eight in 25 years!
The SEC had a rough night as Kentucky, the team everyone thought was the one to beat on this side, lost to Kansas State by 3. The Wildcats were led by Xavier Sneed and his 22 points and 9 rebounds.
Kansas State will face Loyola (Chi) Saturday night. Their ability to win tight games has continued as they did so last night winning 69-68. Nevada led very early on but Loyola (Chi) made a fierce comeback and was up at the half by 4. They would eventually win by just 1 point.
