Turning a year older is typically a bad thing in the world of sports. It just means you’re one year closer to being out of your prime. Well, there are plenty of stars who are celebrating a birthday this week that don’t mind turning a year older; they’ve already made their money and won big! Let’s take a look at a few…
Michael Phelps turns 31 on Thursday and while that’s not that old, he became one of the greatest Olympians ever years ago. He wowed us all at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 by winning eight gold medals. By the end of the 2012 Olympics, he had won 22 medals!
Mike Tyson is past his prime, but that’s fine. He is one of the biggest names ever in boxing and probably has the moment in boxing that everyone remembers; biting a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear off in the late 90s. He has appeared in the Hangover series and considering how crazy those movies are, he’s the perfect fit.
John Elway turned 56 earlier this week. As the Denver Broncos’ General Manager, he won himself a Super Bowl to go along with the two he won in 1998 and 1999. Elway is surely living life to the fullest thee days.
Bobby Wagner, Alex Morgan, Julius Thomas, Kawhi Leonard, Joe Johnson, Miles Austin, Ezekiel Elliot and Jose Canseco are just a few other sports stars celebrating a birthday this week.
