Especially during this time of year, the music charts get a little more festive. And naturally, Mariah Carey is climbing her way back to the top with the return of her 1994 album ‘Merry Christmas’. The album is sitting in the number nine spot on the Billboard top 200.
After it’s original release in 1994, Merry Christmas initially spent six weeks in the top 10 in late 1994 and early 1995, peaking at Number three. Merry Christmas has sold 5.7 million copies in the U.S., making it the third-largest selling holiday album since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking sales in 1991.
The iconic song “All I want for Christmas is You” is featured on the album, which has also peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also stands as the biggest selling holiday digital song ever in the U.S., with 3.6 million downloads sold.
