Recently we disclosed that the estate of Elvis Presley generated $55 million dollars last year, even though Elvis died in 1977. The thought of an artist or singer making millions of dollars well after their death is foreign to us, but here’s the skinny; stars who have songwriter rights, merchandising deals, autobiographies, auctions, and investments made by the star, continue to generate monies well after their lives have ended.
What have a few of the other celebrities made each year, though they are no longer with us?
Michael Jackson has made $140 million annually.
Bob Marley died at the age of 36, yet his estate generates $21 million annually.
Although Prince died only a few years ago, his estate made $25 million.
Elvis has made $55 million annually while John Lennon’s number is $12 million.
David Bowie died in 2016, but his estate will generate more than $10 million.
