If you love the 80s, then the music festival ‘Replay America, the Ultimate 80s’ event is right up your alley. This 80s tribute Billy Ocean, Naked Eyes, The Motels featuring Martha Davis, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, and Taylor Dayne, will take place at the Broadmoor World Arena August 16th. Let’s make a case for why the 80s may have been the best decade of music ever…
Summer 2017 Tour Dates to think about are Philly June 3rd, Grand Rapids MI June 4th, Uncasville CT July 26th, Staten Island July 28th, Rochester NY July 29th, and Lancaster PA the 30th. For August dates check out replayamerica.com.
The 80s were made famous by that new MTV channel, giving birth to real diversity in music. Billy Ocean, Michael and his sister Janet, Donna Summer, Rick James and Herbie Hancock all had a stage to spread their music.
Female musicians enjoyed unfettered access to their fans, which included Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Tina Turner, Madonna, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Paula Abdul, Irene Cara, the Bangles, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. These incredible ladies of sound contributed tons of Top 10 songs from that eclectic decade.
Finally, the 80s was a direct backlash to the 70s disco era, thus the 80s turned out to be the decade of influence – from the fashion and music on the wildly popular TV hit series, ‘Miami Vice’ to the punk and Goth sounds it nurtured. What other decade could give us David Bowie, ZZ Top, Rick James, Madonna and or Soft Cell?
