Madonna has been in the news recently, entangled with legal issues in the attempt to secure more time with her son. Sadly, but this is clear proof that Karma is a ‘you know what,’ given her difficult childhood and rebellion against her single father. Here are some interesting things about Madonna we thought we’d share today.
Madonna was born in 1958 in Rochester Hills, MI, a suburb of Detroit. She grew up in a strict Italian Catholic family. The bellwether moment for Madonna as a young girl was the death of her mother to breast cancer while she was a teenager. Madonna and her single parent father did not get along, thus it was that friction that helped shape Madonna’s direction.
Madonna was once married to Sean Penn, the actor, and was the subject of groundbreaking documentary ‘Madonna: Truth or Dare,’ influencing young girls fashion in the 80s and 90s with that look.
How’s this for recognition? Madonna was welcomed into the UK Music Hall of Fame a few years ago, was inducted into the US Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, and is a member of the ‘Songwriters Hall of Fame.
