Looking Back at Female Greats at the Oscars

The Academy Awards were held this past Sunday, and we want to congratulate the winners and those that were graceful in loosing. What women hold records for Oscars in various categories? Check these strong and talented women out…

Katherine Hepburn holds the record for four separate ‘Best Actress’ wins, while Meryl Streep has been nominated for 18 Oscars!

Shirley Temple was the youngest person to win an Oscar (an honorary Oscar) at the age of five. Tatum O’Neil was the youngest woman/girl to win a real Oscar at the age of 10 (Paper Moon 1974), while Fran Walsh (screenwriter for Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, King Kong etc.) earned three Oscars in one night – all are records that stand today.

Finally, an Oscar record that may remain for all of eternity – Liza Minnelli is the only Oscar winner whose mom and dad also won Oscars! Judy Garland, her mother, won an honorary Oscar in 1940, while her talented director father won an honorary Oscar in 1958 for the movie ‘Gigi.’
