Lemmy Kilmister and Rob Zombie Join World of Tanks in Metal Fest DLC

The World of Tanks franchise continues its tradition of integrating metal legends into the gaming space with the latest installment of their Metal Fest DLC series. This time, the spotlight is on two rock music icons: Lemmy Kilmister and Rob Zombie.

Following in the footsteps of previous legends like Eddie from Iron Maiden and Megadeth’s Vic Rattlehead, the new Metal Fest DLC will feature Lemmy Kilmister and Rob Zombie as playable 3D commanders. This addition enhances the game’s integration of heavy artillery and heavy music.

Embracing the rebellious spirit of Motörhead, World of Tanks Modern Armor also introduces the band’s mascot, Warpig, as a playable 3D commander. Players can further customize their tanks with band-specific cosmetics and skins, allowing them to adorn their war machines with iconic imagery while dominating the battlefield.

The estate of Motörhead expressed excitement about the release, stating, “Modern technology has enabled us to have Lemmy fully integrated into the game, which felt appropriate given that this is exactly the sort of game he played and avidly enjoyed.”

The game’s audio designer, Brendan Blewett, explained the process of integrating these iconic figures: “Motörhead guided the development of both the Warpig and Lemmy voices. For Lemmy, it was obvious that using a sound-alike would lack an important level of authenticity. So, we collaborated with the band to create an A.I. emulation of Lemmy‘s voice, based on original voice samples from his private unpublished archives, including interviews and raw in-booth recordings.”

The Metal Fest event for World of Tanks kicks off on July 30th and runs through August 20th, offering fans a unique opportunity to merge their love of metal music with immersive tank warfare.
