On Tuesday, near the end of the third quarter against Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James made his place in history, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time scorer. Abdul-Jabbar made his way to 38,387 points in his time in the NBA prior to his retirement in 1989.
Although James has only led the league in scoring average one time in 2008, some of his best scoring has happened while in a Laker uniform. He has been around 30 points per game this season and has averaged 30.3 in 56 games in 2021-22. After his rookie season and until his 14th season, James had never finished outside of the top five in scoring average.
Yet another stat to feed into the argument over All-Time Greats in the NBA.
