Leaving Us Too Young

There is this belief that the 27 club is the tragic age of death for many stars. Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain are all, unfortunately, in the club. Amy Winehouse, Pete Ham of Badfinger, Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Malcom Hale of Spanky and Our Gang, and original Drifters singer Rudy Lewis all died at 27 as well.

Those that have passed away who were not in the 27 club are still sadly missed. Karen Carpenter was a millionaire, yet died of starvation (heart failure after years of anorexia.) A young Tejano 90s star Selena was murdered by her fan club president Yolanda Saldivar in 1995. John Lennon was killed at the ripe old age of 40.

Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens all died in a plane crash (The day the music died February 3rd, 1959) and consider the deaths from this year – Earth Wind & Fire’s Maurice White, David Bowie, and Glenn Frey – all still young by today’s standards.
