Let’s play ‘did you know.’ Did you know that Pearl Jam and Soundgarden once joined forces under the name ‘Temple of the Dog’? Here are a few more Pearl Jam fun facts…
Early in the life of this band, Eddie Vedder recorded three songs that were intended to be part of a ‘Momma-Son’ mini-opera.
We know them nationally as Pearl Jam, but they began as Mookie Blaylock, the all-star basketball player from the NBA.
The late Kurt Cobain called the band sellouts (remember the grunge movement at that time) and hated the boys in the band. Eventually Kurt and Eddie became friends before Kurt’s death.
If you listen carefully to the Neil Young album “Mirror Ball,” you’ll hear the band. Yes, they were the backup sound of the album, but legal issues prevented Pearl Jam from getting any credit for the work.
