You may know her as a member of the television ensemble that once graced ‘Roseanne’ but Laurie Metcalf did the impossible; in spite of the issues surrounding Roseanne Barr and the shows eventual cancellation (she played Jackie Harris) she was able to win a Tony Award this week for her work on “Three Tall Women” on Broadway. Its quite a surprise although she was she was nominated for a couple of Golden Globes, winning three Primetime Emmy awards on the ‘Roseanne’ show over the years.

This is not the 1st Tony Award for Laurie, earning the leading actress Tony award for “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” a year ago. Laurie hails from little old Carbondale IL. After graduating from Illinois State, Laurie began her acting career at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, with her big break coming from a small part in ‘Desperately Seeking Susan , and growing her career into a full fledge television ‘must have’ on set. You will hear her in the upcoming ‘Toy Story 4’ which begins filming in 2019.
