Late Show Staffers Will Not Be Prosecuted After the U.S. Capitol Incident

According to hollywoodreporter.com, nine staffers who worked for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will not be prosecuted for the June incident at the U.S. Capital  that ended in charges of unlawful entry. In a quote by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia they stated, “After a comprehensive review of all of the evidence and the relevant legal authority, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has determined that it cannot move forward with misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry against the nine individuals who were arrested on June 16, 2022 at the Longworth Office Building,”  The U.S. Capitol police also added, “The United States Capitol Police was just informed the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia is declining to prosecute the case. We respect the decision that office has made.” The staff workers were originally arrested in June at the Longworth House Office Building at 8:30 p.m., when the building was closed. They will no longer be required to appear in court after they attend a hearing later on this month.
