Kerry King Unleashes Solo Debut: From Hell I Rise

After four and a half years since Slayer’s last performance, guitarist Kerry King returns to the spotlight with his inaugural solo project, “From Hell I Rise.”

For King, the hiatus following Slayer’s final show in 2019 was not a period of rest but rather an opportunity for artistic evolution. The pandemic-induced pause afforded him a rare luxury: time. This period of reflection and creativity became the catalyst for his solo debut.

“The pandemic really shaped the sound and the performance on this record,” explains King. Despite initial setbacks, including battling COVID-19 alongside drummer Paul Bostaph, King used the downtime to delve deeper into his musical craft.

Collaborating with Bostaph in a new capacity allowed King to explore uncharted territory. With meticulous preparation and a shared vision, they crafted a record that showcases King’s iconic guitar work in a fresh and innovative light.

As a founding member of Slayer, King’s influence on the thrash metal genre is unparalleled. From pioneering brutal guitar riffs to co-writing iconic songs, his legacy looms large. Now, with “From Hell I Rise,” Kerry King embarks on a new chapter in his storied career, solidifying his status as a metal legend.
