Kelly Clarkson’s Blast to the Past

Kelly Clarkson won the very first American Idol in 2002. This past week she did a whole week of Facebook live concerts causing her to be on top of most trending news and cultural searches. A few days ago she announced that she will be going ‘old school’ by releasing the fans choice for covers of their favorite songs, available now on line through most streaming partners.

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born in suburban Dallas in 1882 to a second grade teacher mom and engineer dad. Her parents divorced when she was five, and she grew up with her mom, while her brother lived with their dad. One day while singing out loud in her high school, the choir teacher walking behind her heard that voice and asked her to join the choir.

Kelly moved to Los Angeles after graduation with the purpose of starting an acting career. Her persistence worked out as she scored a few walk on and extra gigs in TV’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch and a few episodes if Dharma & Greg.

Kelly and her husband Brandon Blackstock have two children (he has two from a previous marriage) and seem to be very happy with life so far.
