Kelly Clarkson Going Back to American Idol

Kelly Clarkson won the very first American Idol in 2002, and it was announced recently that she will be making a gust appearance this year’s Idol. It makes perfect sense for the original winner to be part of American Idol’s curtain call season right?

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born in suburban Dallas in 1882 to a secnd grade teacher mom and engineer dad. Her parents divorced when she was five. She grew up with her mom, while her brother lived with their dad. One day while singing out loud at her high school, the choir teacher walking behind her, heard her voice, and asked her to join the choir. Kelly moved to Los Angeles after graduation. She would then get into acting, scoring walk-on and extra gigs in TV’s “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” and “Dharma & Greg.”

American Idol was this struggling singer’s big break, and returning the favor by returning to the show is her way of saying thank you. Kelly married talent manager Brandon Blackstock in 2013, and is pregnant and due shortly with the couple’s son.
