Katy Perry, the pop music icon, knows her impact is undeniable. Since launching her music career in 2008, the 39-year-old singer has remained in the spotlight and recently offered fans a glimpse into her personal life during an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.
From creating “controversial” hits to her headline-grabbing moments as an “American Idol” judge, Perry opened up about how her spirituality has guided her through challenging times.
During the interview, the “Hot N Cold” singer reminisced with Seacrest about her first appearance on his show when she released the “controversial” track “I Kissed a Girl.” Perry acknowledged her polarizing nature with a smile, saying, “All of my songs are, actually. I’m a polarizing figure.”
Perry’s comments come amid criticism of her latest album and accusations of being “condescending” to “American Idol” contestants. Her collaboration with producer Dr. Luke on the single “Woman’s World” also sparked controversy, given his past legal battles with singer Kesha.
Despite the backlash, Perry’s resilience shines through. She credits her spirituality, particularly transcendental meditation, for helping her navigate the tough times. “It’s changed my life,” she said, adding that she’s practiced it for 15 years.
Perry also spoke about her upcoming album “143,” which represents her “angel numbers” and has deep personal significance for her. She shared how these numbers frequently appeared during a difficult period, symbolizing “I love you” in a “digital way.”
Motherhood, too, has given Perry a new perspective. “After my daughter was born, I found all the love I ever needed,” she told Seacrest. “I climbed every mountain before her, looking for the view, and now I’ve found it.”
Through the ups and downs, Katy Perry continues to evolve, drawing strength from her spirituality and the love she’s found in motherhood.
